Merced Irrigation District
This district-wide project has included both major structural changes and hundreds of small upgrades in order to transform the entire district into an "on-demand" system with improved water level control down the Main Canal "super-highways". Project highlights include:
- Constructing a dozen new regulating reservoirs to provide increased flexible water deliveries upstream and downstream; restart downstream flow rates at any time; simplify management operations for district personnel; and reduce spills at tail ends of laterals.
- Improving flow measurement and control at key points.
- Creating new pumpback, intertie, and diversion pipelines to recirculate flow variations.
- Change the existing control directions to intentionally divert flow variations to reservoir locations.
